Description of DIDAC Circulating Water Tunnel:

The main data concerning the Circulating Water Tunnel is as follows:

  2. Maximum water depth in the measuring section – 0.84 m
  3. The false floor of the measuring section can be shifted in height so that the water depth can be reduced down to – 0.02 m
  4. Maximum water speed in the measuring section, approx. – 5.5m/s
  5. Maximum power of the Impeller Drive – 74 kW
  6. Height between middle of measuring section and middle of lower horizontal part of the circulating water channel – 3.00 m
  7. Total height (not including a de-aeration container) – 5.68 m
  8. Total length – 16.18 m

 

Technical Data of DIDAC Circulating Water Tunnel:

The circulating water channel is designed for lower and medium speeds. The design permits the manufacture and operation of a channel with a relatively large measuring section at still moderate cost. The pressure above the water surface can be reduced to slightly above vapour pressure. So the Cavitation numbers below Æ = 0.1 can be reached at the water surface in the measuring section. Due to the moderate water speed, the cavitation number is quickly increased with water depth.
